Thailand's Wedding Guide

You want to get married in Thailand, one of the most exciting and beautiful places on earth. You've made a great choice, but there's a few things you should before making the trip. Pui Photography wants your Thai wedding to be one of the best experiences of your lives, here are some tips and facts to help you along the way.

1.Thai legal procedures

One of the most important things you'll need to know about getting married in Thailand is the steps you should take so that it's legal in Thailand and in your home country. This involves completing some paperwork at the Thai Embassy, getting something called an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry from your country's embassy in Bangkok, and registering at a district wedding registration center (see below for listings of registration centers), known as a "khet" or "amphur." In Thailand, a marriage is only legal once all the correct paperwork has been completed and you've officially registered at the district office. Doing some research before you go is the best way to be prepared, and so you won't have to get married twice to make it official!

Please note, if you do decide to have a religious ceremony in Thailand, it will not be legal unless you fill out the proper paperwork. This may require you to come to Thailand earlier, and there will be some fees involved. Find out more information here.

2. Costs

Getting married in Thailand is much less expensive than getting married in the United States or Europe. The cost of an average Thai wedding is only between $1,000 and $2,500.

3. Types of Weddings

Just because you're getting married in Thailand, it doesn't mean you have to have a traditional Thai ceremony (unless you want to). You can have any sort of wedding you would like Some couples choose to get married underwater or on the backs of elephants!
